A poor battery earth or ground can contribute to starting, charging and ignition-system problems.

For performance ignition installations, including systems such as ICE Ignition and MSD Ignition, a high-quality battery and engine ground is particularly important. Always follow the ignition-system manufacturer's installation instructions and grounding requirements.

Where specified by the manufacturer, the battery negative cable should run directly from the battery negative terminal to the engine block as one continuous cable, helping provide a dependable low-resistance ground path.

Ground wires from ignition controls, boosters and other sensitive electronic equipment should also be installed in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's instructions.
